You’re out on the town, having a blast with your girls. Once everyone is a few cocktails (or shots) in, someone suggests going to a male strip club. Without hesitation everyone agrees and laughs nervously in excitement. Are we really doing this?! You waltz (or stumble) through the doors and lay your eyes on the most beautiful men you’ve ever seen. At the end of the show, a charming and handsome man approaches you. You recognise him from the show and your heart starts racing as he strikes up a conversation. After a few more drinks and as the conversation continues, you realise he’s not just a stripper but such a great, funny and attractive guy. Eventually you invite him back to yours and when he politely declines you’re shocked. Why wouldn’t a stripper want to take things further? He’s a stripper after all and this is what usually goes down, right??? Wrong.

Beware of Boundaries

Believe it or not this scenario is something that happens more often than you’d think. Sexual harassment is unfortunately something that happens to male strippers. Things can turn from fun and games to weird and uncomfortable, very quickly. When we sat down to speak to one of Helpful Hunk’s strippers known as ‘Channing’ to explore male stripper etiquette. He shared that sometimes the women at hens parties, private events or the strip shows can be a little much. Filling us in on how things can get a little out of hand, Channing explained, “I reckon they think things are more acceptable because it’s a male stripper” so they think they can get away with more. As someone who constantly has women interested and direct messaging him through Instagram on the regular, Channing appreciates when women can respect his profession and not take things too far.

While all our hunks love an enthusiastic and fun loving crowd or group, it’s important to keep in mind that strippers are just everyday people too and they deserve respect, just like anyone else. It’s great to have fun with a stripper but you can’t have all the rules fly out the window!

Proceed with Caution

So the real question is, how do you approach a stripper you’re into while still treating them with the respect they deserve? The rules of male stripper etiquette are simple! There’s no harm in having a fun conversation but be careful not to get carried away. Of course if the hunk returns interest in you, you exchange numbers and meet in your own time, that’s a-ok. Just keep in mind that he’s at work and you wouldn’t want someone being too persistent or harassing you at your workplace!
